CHAPTER - 23 HUMAN RIGHTS CHARTER
INTRODUCTION:
- The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a declaration adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 10 December 1948.
- It consists of 30 articles which have been elaborated in subsequent international treaties, regional human rights instruments, national constitutions and laws
- Article 1 All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
- Article 2 Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, Without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.
- Article 3 Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person
- Article 4 No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.
- Article 5 No one shall be subjected to torture
- Article 7 All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination equal protection of the law.
- Article 9 No one shall be subjécted to arbitrary arrest, detention or extle
- Article 15 Everyone has the right to a nationality. No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his nationality nor denied the right to change his nationality.
- Article 18 Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion;
- Article 23 Everyone has the right to work,
- Article 26 Everyone has the right to Education
